Tim Horton’s Unfortunate Ingredients Have Given It A Toxic Rating
Tim Hortons, the secondary name plate of Canada. Or at least it used to be before becoming an American owned company. The hard truth is that according to the Retailer Report Card it did not place well on its grading scale for toxic chemicals.
The website, Who's minding the store? A report card to eliminate toxic chemicals, has taken to task some the the most consumer favorite hot spots. A few that are also on the list include 7/11, Burger King, Sobeys, Lowe’s and so much more. The goal of this report card is to seek out and bring attention to toxic chemicals or unsustainable products.
When it comes to our beloved Timmies is sad to see that it was graded an “F” with one star with 11.25 out of 164 rating. It’s rank? 40/50. That smarts a little.
From the site itself we can easily see why this rating was necessary. “While Restaurant Brands International (RBI), the parent company of Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons, has no significant public-facing commitments to address the safety of indirect food additives that may be in food contact materials, the company does receive credit for restricting various chemicals of high concern (CHCs) in promotional toys, for restricting bisphenol A (BPA) in food-contact materials, and for setting a goal to eliminate expanded polystyrene foam in all food packaging globally by 2021.”
Here’s to hoping Tim Hortons can turn it around and get a better grade next time.
