Edmonton Oilers Jesse Puljujarvi Trademarks 'Bison King'

The legend of the Bison King began earlier this year when Puljujarvi posed for a viral photo on Sept. 30 in Elk Island National Park with a bison. The Edmonton Oilers winger was asked about his thoughts by reporters.

“We went there and went a little walk there; the bison was like 10 metres there,” Puljujarvi told reporters. “I take a couple pictures with bison. It was funny. The bison was kind, nice bison.”

Oilers fans dubbed the Finnish forward “bison king” shortly after. Puljujarvi has been a fan of the nickname, even dressing up as a bison for Halloween. Now, as of yesterday, sources broke the story that Puljujarvi filed for a trademark application for the name ‘Bison King.’

Puljujarvi intends on creating athletic apparel, shirts, pants, jackets, footwear, hats and caps and athletic uniforms. It would appear to be an excellent business opportunity, especially given his impressive record and popularity, having establishing new career highs in goals, assists, and points for the Oilers.
