The Importance of Preserving Indegenous Culture

For Indigenous Canadians, their culture is the essence of their being. It is who they belong to, their point of origin, how they interact with one another. Indeed, it extends beyond this further: it is the collective teachings of different ancestors, and the foundation upon which their customs, values, traditions, practices, language rest. It is through their culture that Indigenous people have uniquely interacted with the land they inhabit since time immemorial. Since this ancient culture is omnipresent in every aspect of the lives of Indigenous Canadians, it is of paramount importance to their state of well-being. To that end, divorcing themselves from it would assuredly cause them immeasurable harm. It is for this reason we must work to preserve Indigenous culture.
